DJ SATSB has been behind decks since the year Britpop peaked and Punjabi MC was still on cassette. Three decades later — basement parties, wedding circuits, festival mainstages, two continents, and one stubborn ear for what makes a room move — he's still building sets. Now he's also building the model that builds them.

As the in-house A.I. producer for House Of Bala — an independent music label built in Canada — he works in latents the way he once worked in tape: cut, fold, push it until it bleeds. Every release on the catalogue is run through his model. Every demo in the inbox lands on his desk first.

Biography

First gig: 1996. A high school dance in Scarborough. Two Technics, a Vestax mixer, vinyl in a milk crate, and a Punjabi MC twelve-inch his cousin smuggled out of Birmingham. He has not stopped since.

Thirty years on: same instincts, more tools. Trained on a private corpus of Punjabi folk records, late-90s 2-step, qawwali bootlegs, jungle that didn't survive the era, and the entire House Of Bala vault.

Refuses to ghost-produce. Will not touch a track without the writer in the room — or on a call, or at minimum on the thread. Believes the era of the credit-less producer ended somewhere around 2023 and isn't coming back.

Lives in Toronto. Renders in Brampton. Masters in Vancouver. Sleeps, allegedly, in Montreal.
