DJ Laila B picked up her first pair of headphones at six years old — not as a novelty, not as a family party trick, but as the start of something she never put down. Most kids that age are still working out which hand holds the fork. She was already working out how to read a room.

Three years into playing out publicly, she's moved from practice sets to real stages: DESIFEST, one of the country's largest South Asian cultural festivals, and the TD Union Summer Stage, alongside a steady run of private events where getting the crowd right matters even more. House of Bala signed her because the instinct was already there — technique can be taught, ear can't.

Biography

Started DJing at six. Not a gimmick — she asked for the gear and never stopped touching it.

Spent her early years building an actual ear for a set, not just a playlist of favorites. Learned to read a floor before she learned to drive.

The last three years turned that practice into a real circuit — festival mainstages and private events back to back, including DESIFEST and the TD Union Summer Stage.

Plays across bhangra, Bollywood, and open format — whatever it takes to get three generations of the same family on the floor at once.
